Crypto Vc Maven 11 Raises $107 Million for Third Fund amid Cautious LP Climate

Maven 11, a European venture capital firm focused on crypto investments, has finalized its third fund at $107 million, surpassing its initial $100 million goal. The fundraising process, initially expected to conclude earlier, was delayed by nine months as limited partners exercised greater caution due to broader market downturns. The firm secured capital from institutional investors in Europe and Asia, with Theta Capital Management serving as the anchor investor. London-based investment firm Karatage also participated in the round, though additional backers were not disclosed.

While Fund III exceeded expectations, it remains smaller than Maven 11’s previous fund, which closed at $120 million in May 2023. The firm has already deployed approximately 15% of the new fund across several blockchain projects, including decentralized trading platform GTE, onchain contest platform JokeRace, onchain prime brokerage August, and Ethereum scaling startup Spire Labs. Maven 11 expects to continue deploying capital over the next three to four years, focusing on early-stage investments such as pre-seed and Series A rounds, as well as follow-on funding. Investment amounts will range from $500,000 to $5 million, with priority areas including consumer applications, blockchain infrastructure, and projects at the intersection of artificial intelligence and crypto.

In conjunction with the fund’s closing, Maven 11 has introduced its Founder Residency Program, designed to support startups in their early stages. Unlike large-scale accelerators, which typically work with multiple companies per cohort, the program offers a more customized approach tailored to individual founders. The initiative is structured to help participants position themselves for future funding rounds and long-term business development.
