The investment, supported by multiple angel investors, is aimed at developing a system that integrates gold into digital financial markets. Built on Solana, ORO intends to enable gold holders to earn yield, borrow against their assets, and trade efficiently.
The platform is designed to address structural issues in traditional gold ownership, which often lacks financial utility beyond storage and price appreciation. By creating a tokenized version of gold with decentralized finance (DeFi) functionality, ORO seeks to expand its use case beyond conventional markets. The platform will offer an estimated 3-4% APY on gold holdings and facilitate borrowing and trading mechanisms that eliminate barriers commonly found in emerging economies.
ORO was co-founded by Usman S and Marché Dev, who bring expertise in financial markets and macroeconomic trends. The project is influenced by their experiences with gold as a reserve asset across various regions, including India, Pakistan, the UAE, and Argentina. Their approach centers on integrating gold into blockchain networks to increase its accessibility and liquidity.
